India to Host Global Entertainment Summit 'WAVES' Amid PM Modi's Create in India Initiative

Mumbai, December 30, 2024 - In a move aimed at taking Indian cinema and content global, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India will host the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit or WAVES for the first time from February next year. The initiative is part of the 'Create in India' program launched by the government to boost the country's creative industry.

Industry stalwarts Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar have praised the prime minister's vision, calling it "an occasion that champions and fosters creativity" and a "fabulous global forum for the entire entertainment industry to come and grow together." The two Bollywood superstars expressed their enthusiasm for the summit, which will bring together content creators, social media influencers, creative minds from across the globe, and leaders from the media and entertainment industry.

The 5-day WAVES Summit will be held at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from February 5-9, 2025. According to PM Modi, the summit will provide a global platform for Indian creative talents, fostering collaborations and showcasing the country's potential as a hub for world-class content creation.

This is comparable to global events like the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which attracts prominent leaders from across the globe. The initiative aims to make India a major player in the global entertainment industry and boost the country's economic growth through creative exports.

Several other celebrities, including Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Sidhwani, and Ektaa Kapoor, have welcomed the initiative, expressing their optimism about its potential for fostering creative collaborations and promoting Indian content globally.
