The Indian U19 women's cricket team showcased its prowess once again as it secured a semi-final spot in the 2025 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup by defeating Bangladesh by eight wickets at the Bayuemas Oval on Sunday.
Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma picked three crucial wickets to restrict Bangladesh to 64/8 in 20 overs, while opener G Trisha smashed a superb 40 off just 31 balls to lead India to an easy win. This victory marked India's sixth consecutive win in the tournament, further solidifying its position as one of the frontrunners for a spot in the semi-finals.
The match was played amidst rain, but fortunately, the weather cleared up to allow the full game to be completed. Bangladesh had a respectable start to their innings, with Sumaiya Akter contributing 21 runs, but Vaishnavi's brilliant spell of 3-15 and Joshitha VJ's support ensured they struggled to post a competitive total.
