GUWAHATI, Nov 30 - The 10th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF) concluded today with a grand address by Union Minister for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, who emphasized the critical role that science and innovation play in transforming India into a developed nation.

Dr. Singh stated, "The story of 'Viksit Bharat' will be written in the alphabet of science," highlighting the government's commitment to scientific progress. He underscored the importance of fostering a culture where science drives growth, shaping a future where technology and research contribute to every aspect of society.

Speaking about the Modi government's initiatives, Dr. Singh mentioned six key decisions taken within the first five months of its third term, including:

  1. Establishing the National Research Foundation with a budget of Rs 1 lakh crore.
  2. Launching the Venture Fund for space startups, valued at Rs 1,000 crore.
  3. Enhancing weather forecasting through Mission Mausam.
  4. Introducing the "One Nation, One Subscription" policy to provide universal access to academic journals.
  5. Fostering innovation through the Atal Innovation Mission and extending its impact.
  6. Promoting bio-manufacturing, semiconductors, and medical instruments through international collaborations.

The IISF 2024 festival highlighted India's strides in science and technology, with significant investments and policy frameworks supporting advancements such as quantum technologies and semiconductor manufacturing.

Key attractions at the festival included exhibits on India's achievements in space exploration, medical innovation, and scientific research. The event also featured interactive activities like the Museum of Moon exhibit, a 3D laser show, and exclusive sessions dedicated to fostering curiosity and innovation among young minds.

The third edition of IISF attracted over 10,000 students from across India and witnessed unprecedented engagement, emphasizing its significance as a platform for inspiring the next generation of scientists and innovators.

Renowned scientists and experts from India's scientific community attended the festival, including Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India and Secretary of Biotechnology. Their presence highlighted the event's role in promoting scientific innovation and collaboration.
