India International Science Festival 2024 Kicks Off with Celebrations of Scientific Innovation
Guwahati, Assam, November 30, 2024 - Under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) inaugurated the 10th edition of the India International Science Festival 2024 (IISF 2024) at IIT Guwahati today.
The festival was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, as the Chief Guest, and Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, Govt. of India, Dr. Jitendra Singh, who delivered the Presidential address.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma noted that IISF 2024 is a celebration of collective efforts in scientific innovation and collaboration. "This festival would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our Honorable Prime Minister," he added.
The festival promises to showcase India's remarkable achievements in science and technology, including Chandrayaan-2, with various exhibits, workshops, and interactive sessions aimed at igniting curiosity among students.
In his Presidential address, Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the importance of empowering youth and fostering innovation to drive growth and global leadership. He highlighted key initiatives like the National Research Foundation and the bioeconomy revolution to drive India towards self-reliance.
The festival also features a launch of the India Science, Technology & Innovation (ISTI) Portal, which will serve as a comprehensive repository for content related to Science, Technology, and Innovation within India's ecosystem.
With an expected 8,000 delegates, researchers, and leading scientific organizations attending, along with an additional 10,000 students from schools and colleges, the festival aims to foster collaboration and innovation across disciplines.
