India Interacts with IMF Dy MD, EU President Amid Global Economic Challenges

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov 19:

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held crucial meetings with world leaders and top officials of international organizations during his visit to Brazil for the G20 Summit.

Modi met with leaders from Italy, Indonesia, Norway, Portugal, Egypt, and South Korea on Monday, among others. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral ties in various sectors such as defence, security, trade, technology, culture, education, healthcare, and renewable energy.

During his meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Modi discussed ways to deepen economic cooperation, boost people-to-people relations, and enhance strategic partnerships in areas like defence, security, and technology. Meloni welcomed the India-Italy Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-29, which aims to elevate their bilateral ties.

In a separate meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Modi discussed ways to improve ties in economic cooperation, security, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals, as Indonesia marks its 75th year of diplomatic relations with India.

Modi's Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Store also met on the sidelines. The Indian leader had a productive discussion focusing on strengthening bilateral ties in areas like energy, technology, and people-to-people relations.

Furthermore, Modi engaged in talks with European Union President Ursula von der Leyen during his visit, exploring ways to enhance cooperation between India and the EU in global challenges such as economic issues.

Modi recently concluded a two-day trip to Nigeria before arriving in Brazil. The Indian leader's meetings are considered significant steps towards strengthening bilateral ties with major economies globally.

While details of these interactions remain to be revealed, one thing is clear: India is reaching out to strengthen its partnerships worldwide to address present global challenges amid economic uncertainty and uncertainties associated with climate change.
