India, Indonesia Sign Five MoUs on Health, Maritime Security, and Digital Development During Indonesian President's Visit
New Delhi [India], January 26 (ANI): In a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties, the Union Government of India signed five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indonesian government during the State visit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
The MoUs were signed on various fields including health cooperation, maritime safety and security, traditional medicine quality assurance, digital development, and cultural exchange. This milestone marks a significant milestone in the strengthening of Indo-Indonesian ties.
According to the MoU signed between the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Indonesian government's Ministry of Health, Indonesia, both countries expressed their commitment to enhancing healthcare cooperation and sharing knowledge in this area.
Another significant development is the renewal of an MoU on Maritime Safety and Security Cooperation between India's Indian Coast Guard and Indonesia's BAKAMLA. This renewed agreement highlights the importance of maritime security cooperation between the two nations.
Besides health and maritime security, the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology also signed an MoU with Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs to promote digital development and technological partnerships.
In a related ceremony, a cultural exchange program was launched between the Union Ministry of Culture and Indonesia's Ministry of Culture for 2025-28, aimed at promoting people-to-people connections and fostering greater understanding between the two nations.
The highlight of President Subianto's visit will be his attendance as Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations on Kartvya Path in New Delhi today. He will also witness a unique performance by the Indonesian military academy ensemble band known as Genderang Suling Canka Lokananta.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at Hyderabad House in Delhi, during which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on key sectors including defence, security, maritime domain, economic ties, and people-to-people connections.
