India Concludes Historic Three-Nation Tour with State Visit to Guyana

Georgetown, Guyana - Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed from Georgetown on Thursday (local time) for Delhi, concluding a significant three-nation tour that began in Nigeria and included an active role at the 19th G20 Summit in Brazil. This trip marked the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in over 50 years.

During his historic State visit to Guyana, PM Modi co-chaired the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit with leaders from the Caribbean region, aiming to strengthen ties with CARICOM nations. He also met Suriname's President Chandrikapersad 'Chan' Santokhi on the sidelines of the summit and engaged in discussions with various other nations, including Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago, and Saint Lucia.

The Prime Minister participated in a range of cultural and diplomatic engagements during his visit. He visited Saraswati Vidya Niketan Secondary School in Georgetown, where he interacted with students who welcomed him with traditional Indian performances. He also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue in Promenade Gardens, symbolising India's enduring commitment to values of peace and non-violence.

A dinner hosted by Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali showcased the country's vibrant culture and highlighted the significance of the visit. The trip demonstrated India's growing global engagement, with pivotal discussions in Nigeria, active participation at the G20 Summit in Brazil, and fostering ties with the Caribbean during his historic visit to Guyana.

The three-nation tour underscored the importance of nurturing global partnerships, reinforcing the country's position as a key player on the world stage.
