Mumbai (Alaryana News Network): The 1st Test between India and Australia resumed on Day 2 at the Wankhede Stadium here, where Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul chipped in with half-century knock to stabilize the Indian innings.
The day's play got off to a dramatic turn when India captain Rohit Sharma opted to bat first after winning a crucial toss. However, Australia were quick to find their footing, thanks to a blistering 73 off 50 balls by their opening batsman, David Warner.
Warner's aggressive playing helped push the Aussie team to a strong total of 273/4 at the end of Day 1. India struggled against the Aussies' pace attack and could only manage 123 runs in the same period.
As the Day 2 action commenced, India faced a stiff challenge in defending their overnight score but Jaiswal and Rahul played innings-defining knocks to steer India back into contention. Jaiswal hit 55 off 88 balls while Rahul chipped in with a steady 45 off 84 balls as they added a crucial 83 runs for the second wicket.
With India looking solid at lunch, the rest of the day's play looked relatively positive but the innings stalled after KL Rahul got dismissed by Nathan Lyon. Just another Indian loss but nothing to look forward due to the high stakes this one holds in the Test Cricket arena
