India Calls for Calm as Tensions Escalate Between Israel and Iran

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday reached out to his counterparts in both Israel and Iran, urging calm amidst escalating tensions between the two nations.

In a pair of late-night posted messages on social media platform X, Jaishankar shared updates on his conversations with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi.

Jaishankar began by posting about a phone call he received from Israeli FM Sa'ar, stating that the conversation was held "regarding ongoing developments" between the two countries. The External Affairs Minister's post read: "Received a call this afternoon from FM @gidonsaar of Israel regarding ongoing developments."

Later, Jaishankar posted an update about his telephonic conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi, who also spoke to him "on the latest situation" between the two nations. The EAM's second post stated: "Spoke to Iranian FM @araghchi this evening on the latest situation."
