IIT Gandhinagar's Amalthea Summit Concludes with Tech Innovations and Auto Expo

Gandhinagar, November 12, 2023 - The 15th edition of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar's (IITGN) student-run technical summit, Amalthea, concluded on Sunday, marking a vibrant showcase of technological advancements and entrepreneurial spirit. The two-day event, which drew a significant crowd including school students, featured an exciting tech expo, a first-ever automotive exhibition, and various competitions that highlighted innovation and skill.

The Tech Expo, a major highlight, brought together exhibitors from ISRO, the Indian Army, Dronelab Technologies, and other notable organizations, displaying cutting-edge developments in science and technology. Nilesh Desai, Director of ISRO’s Space Applications Centre, graced the event, engaging with attendees and inspiring the next generation of tech enthusiasts. "Don’t be afraid of failures. Learn from them," Desai emphasized during his opening address.

A novel addition to this year’s Amalthea was the Auto Expo, which attracted enthusiasts and casual visitors alike with free test drives of bikes from leading brands such as Kawasaki, BMW, Yamaha, Ultraviolette, Triumph, and Harley Davidson. The expo not only allowed visitors to experience these machines firsthand but also set a precedent for future expansions.

The summit also featured engaging competitions like "Wire to Win," where participants were challenged to design functional circuits under time constraints, showcasing their technical prowess and innovative thinking. Meanwhile, the RC Exp Racing event became a crowd favorite, with racers navigating a complex track filled with sharp turns and obstacles, demonstrating precision and control.

Parallel to these, conclaves and symposia were held focusing on tech startups and artificial intelligence. Industry leaders such as Prashant Mamtora of Havi.co, Hemen Ashodia of FXIS AI, and Abhishek Desai of Cricheroes shared insights on entrepreneurship, innovation, and the challenges and rewards of starting a tech venture. The AI and Data Analytics symposium featured experts discussing the latest in these fields, painting a picture of the future of technology.

Lawannya Pramod Dakhane, a second-year Civil Engineering student and member of the organizing committee, remarked on the event's success, "The Tech Expo at Amalthea brought together major innovators, showcasing their latest advancements, and it was truly inspiring to see the diverse crowd from students to dignitaries engaging with the future of India’s technology landscape."
