IFFK to be More Inclusive: Women to GetGreater Recognition

Thiruvananthapuram, December 10 - The 29th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) is set to be more women-inclusive, according to Kerala Chalachitra Academy interim chairman Prem Kumar. The academy has announced plans to consider more women for its various honours, including the Lifetime Achievement Award.

A woman filmmaker will reportedly receive the Lifetime Achievement Award this year, while another woman filmmaker is in contention for the prestigious Spirit of Cinema Award. This move is seen as a significant step towards promoting female voices in Indian cinema globally.

Four Malayalam films featuring women filmmakers - Indu Lakshmi's 'Appuram' (The Other Side'), J Sivaranjini's 'Victoria', Adithya Baby's 'Kamadevan Nakshathram Kandu' (Cupid Saw The Star), and Shobhana Padinjhattil's 'Girl Friends' - will be showcased at IFFK, which kicks off on December 13.

In a separate development, the Kerala Chalachitra Academy has joined hands with the Kerala State Film Development Corporation to conduct the second edition of the Kerala Film Market. The initiative aims to promote Indian cinema and provide a platform for filmmakers to showcase their work.

The IFFK will feature a diverse range of films from different countries and genres, making it an exciting event for film enthusiasts worldwide. As the festival gears up to celebrate Indian filmmaking talent, there's excitement building around its more inclusive approach this year.
