Hyderabad Hosts Grand Opening of 72nd Edition of Miss World 2025 Amid Strict Security Measures

HYDERABAD, TELANGANA - In a vibrant and colorful ceremony held at the iconic Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy officially declared open the 72nd edition of the prestigious Miss World 2025 pageant. Over 110 talented contestants from more than 110 countries gathered for the grand event, with Miss India Nandini Gupta representing the host nation.

The opening ceremony beautifully showcased the rich cultural heritage of Telangana, commencing with a soulful rendition of the state anthem 'Jaya Jaya He Telangana,' penned by poet Ande Sri. The stunning Perini dance performance by 250 artists left the audience mesmerized, highlighting the traditional art forms of the state.

The event featured participants from Latin American and 22 African nations, who donned vibrant native costumes, adding a truly global flavor to the celebration. In line with the current border tensions with Pakistan, strict security measures were put in place across the city.

Telangana is hosting its maiden Miss World Competition for the first time, attracting prominent personalities including Telangana Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, DGP Jitender, Tourism Department Chairman Patel Ramesh Reddy, Hyderabad Mayor Vijayalakshmi, Miss World CEO Julia Morley, and reigning Miss World 2024 Krystyna Pyszková.

Indian Prime Minister India is hosting the pageant for the third time, with contestants from around 120 nations participating in the event. Earlier, the state government gave a warm welcome to contestants at the airport showcasing Telangana's rich cultural traditions.

The grand finale of Miss World 2025 will take place on June 1 at HITEX Exhibition Centre, while the pageant will continue for 22 days from May 13 to May 31, with various events planned across.
