In a shocking turn of events, complaints about dating apps in the city have surfaced again, this time at a Thane-based club that has allegedly duped victims out of thousands of rupees.
Mid-Day's Investigation into the matter revealed that just weeks after exposing similar scams in Mumbai and surrounding areas, new evidence emerged that points to the same dubious practices being used at Glitte The Super Club. Officials told mid-day they were investigating reports of an alleged scam involving a 25-year-old man from Thane who had been ordered to pay an exorbitant bill on an online dating platform.
According to sources, the victim claimed that he was scammed out of Rs 39,000 after meeting someone through an online dating site and being forced to settle an enormous bill at the club. Authorities confirmed they were looking into the matter and would take necessary action against those responsible.
