FAIROZKHAN SHAIKH, ALARIYAN.COM - In a move aimed at streamlining tax compliance for individuals with changing names, the government has introduced an easy-to-use online portal that allows taxpayers to update their Permanent Account Number (PAN) information without having to approach a field office.
The updated process can be completed entirely through the GST Portal, which has been designed to ensure user convenience. According to officials, interested taxpayers will have to follow these steps:
- Log in to the GST portal with their existing credentials.
- Navigating to the 'Services' section > 'Registration' > 'Amendment of Registration'.
- Choosing 'Core Amendment', followed by clicking 'Proceed'.
- Individuals can then select their new name from a dropdown menu and proceed to enter the updated details, accompanied by supporting documents such as their Registered Office Certificate and PAN card.
- Upon verification, an acknowledgment reference number (ARN) will be provided for further record-keeping.
This modification seeks to enhance digital tax submissions, which can greatly reduce administrative burden on taxpayers while improving government services overall.
