Harman Baweja Speaks Out: 'I Refused to Acknowledge My Lookalike Claim with Hrithik Roshan'
Mumbai, India - In a candid interview with mid-day, actor Harman Baweja spoke out about his past struggles in the film industry and his long-standing feud with being compared to renowned actor Hrithik Roshan.
Baweja's acting career began in 2008 with the futuristic film "Love Story 2050," which made him a household name, but also sparked controversy due to his striking resemblance to Roshan. When asked about the claims, Baweja stated, "I refuse to agree that we look the same. Agar ek jhalak ki baat ho to phir ho sakta hai" ("a slight resemblance might be possible").
During one of his early film promotions, a fan called out Hrithik's name when Baweja took the stage, and the actor recalled how he was nervous but found courage after the shoutout. He even revealed that he had asked his friends to find out who came up with the comment.
Baweja also discussed his struggles in the media, stating, "I feel that the media was absolutely unfair to me. When I had done my first few films, a barrage of harsh and mean things were written about me."
Despite facing setbacks and failed films, including "What's your Rashee?" and "Victory," Baweja credited his mother Pammi Baweja for producing one of his most notable film, "Love Story 2050."
Currently reprising his role as JCP Harshvardhan Shroff in the Netflix crime drama "Scoop," based on journalist Jigna Vora's life and book, Baweja expressed relief and newfound acceptance about his acting career.
