Gut-Behrami Scorchers to Fifth Alpine Ski World Cup Super G Victory

Lara Gut-Behrami claimed her first win of the 2024/25 campaign at the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Super G event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany on Sunday (26 January 2025), extending her career tally to an impressive 46 World Cup victories.

The Swiss racer, who secured a podium finish for the fifth time this season, dominated the top section of the course before carrying that momentum all the way down to claim the top spot. Lie's narrow defeat by just 0.35 seconds saw Norway's star skier secure second place, while Federica Brignone fell short due to a late turn mistake that cost her valuable time.

Federica Brignone secured a bronze medal, despite being in contention for a stronger finish, with Sofia Goggia finishing fourth after suffering from a dislocated shoulder during the downhill event on Saturday. Laura Pirovano rounded out the top five positions in the highly anticipated women's Super G World Cup event.

Gut-Behrami reflected on her hard-fought victory, noting it was a crucial win amidst a challenging start to the season for the Swiss powerhouse. In an exclusive statement with FIS, Gut-Behrami attributed her unexpected success to overcoming initial struggles that left her questioning her form and pushing herself as usual.

Gut-Behrami added, "Sometimes when you don't have perfect conditions, you stop thinking and just try to ski." With this latest triumph before the World Championships in Austria, where the women's Super G event is scheduled for 6 February, Lara Gut-Behrami demonstrated her status as one of the most dominant skiers on the globe.
