GREENWICH ENTERTAINMENT ACQUIRES CANADA AND U.S. DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS TO ANTHOLOGY FILM "COME CLOSER"

In a significant acquisition, Greenwich Entertainment has secured the distribution rights for the upcoming Israeli feature film "Come Closer" in both the United States and Canada.

Directed by Tom Nesher, daughter of renowned Israeli director Avi Nesher, "Come Closer" is based on the writer's own life experiences and tells the story of a young woman named Eden (played by Lia Elalouf) who discovers that her brother had a secret girlfriend after his tragic death. The film follows Eden as she embarks on a clandestine investigation, befriending the girl and developing an obsession that threatens to disrupt their lives.

The film has won numerous accolades globally, taking home the Best Film prize at Israel's Ophir Film Awards in September, as well as nominations for 12 categories. It also secured wins for Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Editing.

The film world premiered at Tribeca earlier this year and received critical acclaim, winning the prestigious Viewpoint Award. It also made its Israeli premiere at the Jerusalem Film Festival in July.

"Come Closer is a deeply affecting tale of youth confronting sudden loss and unexpected connection," said Ed Arentz, Co-President of Greenwich Entertainment. "We are thrilled to release Tom Nesher's impressive debut feature film on our platform."

Tom Nesher shared her thoughts, stating that her debut film is inspired by the quote from Friedrich Nietzsche: "When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." She wrote "Come Closer" as a way to confront her own trauma and explore the complexities of grief, finding immense pain, beauty, memories, youthful energy, humor, and romance.

As part of the distribution deal, Ed Arentz worked closely with Raffaella Di Giulio of Fandango Sales to secure the Canadian territories for "Come Closer", which will now be distributed by Greenwich Entertainment in both markets.
