Government Unveils Rs 1,435 Crore PAN 2.0 Project to Enhance Digital Taxation
NEW DELHI, MARCH [DATE] - The government announced on Monday the launch of the Rs 1,435 crore PAN 2.0 Project, aimed at transforming taxpayer registration services and providing a seamless experience for citizenry. The ambitious project seeks to make the Permanent Account Number (PAN) a "common business identifier" for all digital systems of government agencies.
The PAN 2.0 Project is expected to bring about significant benefits, including single source of truth and data consistency, eco-friendly processes, cost optimization, security, and optimization of infrastructure for greater agility. These measures are anticipated to simplify taxpayer registration services, improve service delivery, and enhance the overall efficiency of governance.
As per the project vision enshrined in Digital India, PAN will serve as a common identifier for specified government agencies' digital systems, further facilitating taxpayer registration and validation. The current PAN ecosystem is set to undergo an upgrade with the PAN 2.0 Project, consolidating core and non-core activities.
The government aims to utilize this initiative to revolutionize taxation services in the country. With nearly 78 crore PANs already issued, the Pan Number can be expected to experience a significant increase in adoption across its digital systems.
"Digital transformation is our priority," said [state official name], an integral part of the project's implementation strategy.
