Google Has Reportedly Pulled the Plug on Pixel Tablet 3
In a stunning move, tech giant Google has reportedly cancelled the development of its long rumoured Pixel Tablet 3, according to sources close to the company. Employees working on the project have been reassigned to other projects within the organisation, effectively putting an end to plans for a third-generation tablet.
Earlier this year, speculations had suggested that Google's third-generation Pixel Tablet was set to launch in 2027, boasting a Tensor G6 chipset as its key feature. However, now it appears that those plans have been scrapped and that the Pixel Tablet 2 will serve as the brand's last tablet, leaving fans wondering if they will ever see a replacement for its predecessor.
The Pixel Tablet 3, dubbed "Kiyomi" internally, was expected to be powered by Google's latest Tensor G6 chipset, but it seems that the project has been put on hold indefinitely. The cancellation of the new tablet could have significant implications for Google's hardware roadmap and may also affect plans for any future tablet releases.
The Pixel Tablet 2 is eagerly anticipated among tech enthusiasts worldwide and had earlier received numerous speculations regarding its potential launch date, features, and availability. It was speculated that the device would be equipped with a touchscreen keyboard case, sporting an 8-megapixel front sensor and an 8-megapixel rear camera. A source revealed that the tablet is expected to make its official announcement this year.
Speaking of specifications, Google's Pixel Tablet started at $499 in 2023 when it debuted, with a 10.95-inch WQXGA display and compatibility with USI 2.0 touch pen. The device runs on Google's in-house Tensor G2 SoC along with Titan M2 security chip. It is available for up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, offering an upgrade over its predecessor.
While news about the cancellation of Pixel Tablet 3 has left many fans disappointed, one thing remains certain – we may be witnessing a departure from tablet market entry by Google for some time now.
