Gokhale Bridge Work Misses Deadline Again; Man Held For Murder Of 9-Year-Old in Santacruz
Mumbai: The Brihan Mumbai Corporation (BMC) has once again missed its deadline for completing the Gokhale bridge, leaving commuters frustrated and worried about safety.
The second girder of the bridge was scheduled to be lowered by November 14, but it remains at a height of 15 meters above road level. This is not the first time the project has been behind schedule, with several deadlines being pushed further back. The original deadline for completion was set for April 2025.
Separately, in Santacruz, police have arrested a man for the alleged murder of a 9-year-old boy on Chhath Puja evening. The accused, Maheshwar Mukhiya (31), a garment shop worker, abducted the boy from near his residence and strangled him to death.
Equity Markets Plunge as Foreign Funds Wreak Havoc
The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex declined 156.72 points to 77,423.59 in early trade today, following relentless foreign fund outflows and weak leads from US markets. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange's Nifty 50 index fell 64.25 points to 23,468.45.
This market volatility has dampened investor sentiment, with many experts attributing the decline to a selling spree by foreign funds in IT stocks.
