Goa Unveils Unified Digital Platform for Micro SMEs
Panaji, Nov 30 (KNN): In a significant push to empowerment micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state, the Directorate of Industries, Trade, and Commerce (DITC) has announced the launch of a unified digital platform and initiated two business facilitation centres as part of the World Bank-backed Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme.
Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sanctioned over ₹61.5 crore for this initiative, aimed at streamlining processes and empowering small businesses in the state. According to DITC officials, the ministry set a target of 25,000 MSMEs across the state with a focus on promoting micro and small enterprises.
The proposed digital portal is expected to provide data-driven assistance to over 1 lakh (0.25%) MSMEs by tracking performance and monitoring interventions under RAMP. This move envisions the creation of an efficient network supporting local businesses and boosting their competitiveness in both national and international markets.
To support entrepreneurs, two business facilitation centres will be established – one each in North and South Goa. These centres are designed as a single point for contact for MSMEs, providing administration guidance, regulatory compliance assistance, and certifications.
Beyond operational efficiency, the RAMP programme prioritizes capacity-building for local entrepreneurs through tailored training sessions in technical areas to enhance business capabilities.
Furthermore, a women entrepreneurship facilitation cell will be created to aid 1,600 self-help groups transforming into legitimate businesses. This project aims at promoting balanced economic growth by integrating technology, skill development, and on-ground support.
The initiative aims to benefit over 25,000 entrepreneurs – aspiring and existing business owners – by bolstering Goa's MSME sector and driving economic progress while nurturing a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.
