Generator Entertainment Launches with Focus on High-Genre Filmmaking
Veteran screenwriter Chris Collins, producer Kelly McKee, and entertainment attorney Ken Browning have launched Generator Entertainment, a new entertainment company committed to developing, producing, and financing projects in film, television, and other sectors. The company is focused on high-genre filmmaking, including action, sci-fi, and elevated horror films within the budget range of $5 million to $20 million.
Generator has partnered with Hill Country Studios, a $250M studio development outside Austin, Texas, which will serve as their production facility. This facility offers 12 sound stages, four workshops, dedicated production offices, and 1,500 acres of backlot space. Under the partnership, Hill Country will support Generator's projects and contribute to financing upcoming productions.
Collins, McKee, and Browning aim to establish a new brand in Hollywood that collaborates with and supports filmmakers to produce top-shelf horror, action, and sci-fi content for genre enthusiasts. The company has already secured major IP rights, including a screenplay from an Academy Award winner, and is working with notable directors on other projects.
"We're excited about the opportunity to support emerging talent and bring new stories to life," said Collins in a statement. "We believe that our partnership with Hill Country Studios will enable us to create a slate of exciting films and shows."
Industry sources have confirmed that Generator will focus strategically on international markets, specifically Japan and Korea, where they are acquiring major IP rights and working with local talent.
As part of its launch, Generator has announced plans for the development of two productions set to shoot at Hill Country Studios in 2025, with a total of four productions planned for the following year.
Headlines from the entertainment industry will include the collaboration between Generator Entertainment partners, notable filmmakers attached to their projects and international partnerships to develop new content.
