Gandhi Clan Greets Nation on Republic Day
New Delhi : A scion of one of India's most iconic political families, Rahul Gandhi, and his wife Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, extended warm wishes to the nation on the 76th Republic Day, Sunday.
Congress party leaders hailed the Constitution as a unifying force that protects the rights of citizens across the country. The pair's congratulatory messages echoed the call for unity and patriotism that has become synonymous with Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi - both beloved family members who also ruled India.
Rahul Gandhi highlighted his appreciation for the Constitution, saying that its protection is a shared duty among all Indians regardless of their creed or origin.
The national Congress Party president, Mallikarjun Kharge, was seen unfurling Indian flags alongside Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar during a ceremony.
In his address, Kharge highlighted the significance of preserving constitutional principles to foster national unity and respect across borders. "People come to our doorsteps to seek votes... it is thanks to the effort put forth by party leaders like Ambedkar and Nehru that have enabled preservation of Independence of this Country".
