Forest Fire Rages in Bhaga Village, Wreaks Havoc on Reasi District

A massive forest fire that has been raging for several days in the Bhaga village area of Reasi district near NH-144A intensified further today, leaving thousands at risk as the flames spread to hundreds of hectares. The blaze, which had already caused significant damage to the surrounding landscape, now threatens nearby villages and a vital national highway.

As firefighters from the Forest Department and Fire and Emergency Services scramble to contain the rapidly spreading flames, local residents are on high alert, fearing for their safety as the inferno draws closer to residential areas. According to DFO Reasi Sunil Singh, the fire broke out at 4 pm yesterday and has been intensifying ever since.

The dry weather and strong winds have fueled the fire's ferocity, making it a significant challenge for firefighting teams. Despite ongoing efforts to bring the blaze under control, officials acknowledge that it is not yet fully contained.

Meanwhile, another major forest fire broke out in Pulwama district's Gusu village yesterday, where emergency personnel are fighting to extinguish the flames. The situation remains dire in both areas, as residents face the very real threat of property loss and personal harm due to the raging wildfires.
