Flashes Take Down Unbeaten Buffaloes in Thrilling Matchup
KENT, Ohio - Senior Jenna Batsch scored a season-high 23 points and classmate Bridget Dunn posted a double-double to lead Kent State in an 82-73 victory over previously-unbeated Buffalo on Sunday at the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes (9-5, 2-0 MAC) dominated the contest from the start, building a 22-15 advantage after three quarters with contributions from multiple players. The Bulls' early run was swiftly countered by Kent State, which took a two-possession lead and held onto it throughout the remainder of the first half.
In the third quarter, Kent State expanded its lead to 52-36 before the two teams entered the bonus with over six minutes remaining. Over the final nine minutes, the Flashes shot a flawless 24-of-27 at the free throw line to seal the win.
Batsch led the team in scoring and assists, while Dunn controlled the glass with a game-high 16 rebounds. Babbitt also posted a career-high five three-point field goals, finishing with 19 points.
The Flashes will face their first road test away from Mid-American Conference play when they travel to Toledo on Wednesday, January 8th at 7:00 p.m., and then again at Ohio on Saturday, January 11.
