Fitness and Skin Care: Separating Fact from Fiction with Experts Rashmi Rai and Dr Kiran
In an effort to set the record straight, fitness influencer Rashmi Rai and dermatologist Dr Kiran have taken to Instagram to debunk common misconceptions about fitness and skin health. The duo aimed to provide insights on strength training and effective skincare practices that readers can trust.
According to Dr Kiran, strength training is not just a trend, but an essential component of achieving good fitness. "I think everybody should strength train," Dr Kiran emphasized. "So, this is true because it actually increases muscle mass." As one grows older, losing muscle mass is inevitable. However, exercising with body weight can still yield impressive results.
Rashmi Rai agreed, saying that "you don't have to like weight lifting" to benefit from strength training. Additionally, incorporating bodyweight exercises into your routine can be just as effective as using weights.
The conversation then turned to skincare, with Rashmi inquiring whether external treatments are enough to maintain healthy skin. Dr Kiran dispelled the myth, stating that a balanced approach is necessary. "You have to do both inside and outside," she said. "If you only do your skincare from the outside, ignoring the impact of your diet, lifestyle, and stress, it's not going to solve the problem."
Dr Kiran emphasized the importance of recognizing the interconnectedness of skin health and overall well-being. A healthy diet, reduced stress levels, and a balanced lifestyle are all crucial elements in maintaining radiant skin.
By understanding and separating fact from fiction, individuals can make informed decisions about their fitness and skincare regimens, leading to enhanced physical and mental health.
