FISU America Games Cali 2024 Concludes with Record-Breaking Medal Count and Unforgettable Moments
Cali, Colombia - The III FISU America Games Cali 2024 has come to a close, leaving a lasting impact on the history of university sports in the Americas. After an incredible 10 days filled with action, culture, and friendship, the event concluded with Colombia taking top honors as the team with the most overall medals (111).
The tournament, which brought together student-athletes from 17 nations, offered a diverse range of sports disciplines, including athletics, basketball, table tennis, weightlifting, and beach volleyball. Each discipline provided exciting moments, ranging from record-breaking performances in athletics to technical mastery in table tennis.
Brazil dominated the medal count with 106 medals (60 gold, 30 silver, 16 bronze), closely followed by Colombia with 111 medals and Mexico taking third place with 100 medals.
The high level of competition was reflected not just in the medal tally but also in the intensity and strategy displayed on the field. Futsal, tennis, and volleyball matches were particularly thrilling, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats.
In a heartfelt closing ceremony, FISU President Leonz Eder and FISU America President Alim Rachid Maluf Neto paid tribute to the organizers and participants for making the event an unforgettable experience. The baton has now been handed over to Lima, Peru, which will host the next edition of the FISU Games in 2026.
