FIRST NEWBORN OF 2025 WELCOMED AT UVA HEALTH IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - A family of three welcomed a baby boy to the world on January 1, as Kenzai Lucas became the first newborn at UVA Health in the new year.

At 2:02 a.m., mother Taquesia Thompson and father Trevon Lucas gave birth to their third child, and according to them, it was an unexpected joy. "Honestly, it's different. It's an amazing feeling, but I wasn't expecting it," said Mrs. Thompson, visibly emotional during the press conference held by UVA Health.

Kenzai Lucas is not only the first baby born at UVA Health in 2025 but also broke the family's anticipation for arrival of their baby boy. "I was just hoping that it would be a little closer to my due date, but at the same time too, I kind of wanted to welcome him. So, this is definitely a good feeling," Mrs. Thompson explained.

Mrs. Lucas' 8-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son are overjoyed with their new baby brother. "They're honestly super excited" said Mrs Thomp sons. According to them, they even asked every day when the baby was coming out to be ready for meeting it.
