FIRE TRUCK CRASHES INTO PASSENGER TRAIN IN FLORIDA, FOUR INJURED SERIOUSLY

Six people were injured on Saturday when a fire truck with its emergency lights blaring drove into the path of a high-speed passenger train in Delray Beach, Florida. The incident occurred at 10:45 am at a congested downtown intersection, leaving one train with significant damage and another vehicle badly overturned.

Video footage captured the chaotic scene, showing firefighters working to free survivors from the wreckage. According to eyewitnesses, three crew members of the fire department were injured in the collision, while 12 passengers from the Brightline train sustained minor injuries.

Delray Beach Fire Rescue confirmed on social media that three of their personnel were hospitalised at this time with stable conditions, adding that Palm Beach County Fire Rescue had transported 12 people to hospital as a precautionary measure.

In a further development, the fire truck's crew reportedly waited for another train to pass before navigating around lowered railroad crossing gates. However, instead of being aware of an imminent freight train approaching from the opposite direction, they drove into its path, resulting in fatal consequences.

Following an ongoing investigation, authorities have vowed to establish more stringent safety protocols to mitigate such accidents in the future.
