FIDE Hosts Third-Generation World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship for Teams in Historic Event

Lasko, Hungary - The Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) is set to host the third edition of its highly anticipated World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship for teams. This year's tournament promises to be more diverse and engaging than ever, with 55 participating teams showcasing their skills on six chessboards simultaneously.

The championship features an innovative format where teams can be assembled without restrictions until FIDE regulations dictate a minimum balance between players with different skill levels and backgrounds. Notably, each team must include one female player and one player with no FIDE rating.

The tournament is divided into two phases: Rapid Chess Championship and Blitz World Championship. The former, which will run for three days in June from the 11th to the 13th, consists of a Swiss system competition featuring the top teams over 12 rounds. In contrast, the latter consists of a preliminary round with four-round robin pools, followed by a knockout phase culminating in a final match.

The Elo favorite for this year's tournament is undoubtedly Russia's WR team sponsored by Wadim Rosenstein, boasting six world-class grandmasters. Such formidable competition will undoubtedly be tough to beat.

In related news, FIDE has confirmed the regulations and official schedules for both championships. The live games section invites everyone to enjoy an interactive player tracking system at their fingertips through a dedicated app.

The championship also boasts an exclusive commentary platform that includes all-rounds with expert analysis from top chess personalities. Furthermore, spectators can visit our website to get updates about the tournaments online.
