FIDE Hosts Third Consecutive World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship for Teams
In a significant development, the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), the international chess federation, is set to host its third consecutive World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship for teams. The event will feature 55 teams from around the world, competing in two different formats: Rapid Chess and Blitz Chess.
According to sources, the participating teams can be formed as desired, subject to certain eligibility requirements. During the tournament, players must occupy specific positions on the six boards - one must have a female player, while another board will be taken by a player without an official FIDE rating.
The championship begins with the Rapid Chess portion of the event, played over 12 rounds using the Swiss system format, starting June 11. The following days are dedicated to the Blitz World Championship, divided into two phases: a group stage and a knockout final round.
In an exclusive favour, the Elo-ranked team sponsored by Russian businessman Wadim Rosenstein is considered as a top contender for the championship, boasting six super grandmasters among its players.

Jun 11 – Day 2 Rapid: 11:00 (Technical Meeting), 13:30 (Opening Ceremony), 14:00 (Round 1)
Jun 11: 15:40 (Round 2) and 17:20 (Round 3) Jun 12 - Day 3 Rapid - 14:00 (Round 5); - 15:40 (Round 6); - 17:20 (Round 7);
Jun 13 – Day 4 Rapid - 14:00 (Round 9) and 19:00 (Round 10)
Jun 12 – 15 & 14 - day 5 & 6 - Blitz
June 14 -15 - the Pools will take place from 11 am to 5 pm.
