Exclusive Interview: KP Singh, DLF's Chairman Emeritus, Emphasizes PM Modi, Trump, Putin, and China as India's Key Players on the World Forum
India is rapidly progressing to become the third-largest economy in the world, according to KP Singh, Chairman Emeritus of DLF, the country's largest real estate developer. In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, Singh praises Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that the Indian PM stands among only four top leaders who matter globally.
Singh attributes India's rising global stature to its leadership and government policies. He notes that the country is growing rapidly due to a combination of its governance and entrepreneurial spirit. Noting that the IMF and World Bank have projected India's economy will surpass that of the US and China within the next four years, Singh credits this growth to the government's pro-development policies as well as the talent and work ethic of Indian entrepreneurs.
Singh highlights Prime Minister Modi as a key figure in changing India's image on the global level. He praises the prime minister for his ability to shift public perception, mentioning that only four leaders - PM Modi, President Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping - truly matter at this moment.
When asked about the transformation of the real estate sector over the years, Singh is optimistic about its future. Most old builders have faced legal issues or financial struggles; however, he attributes this to "poor urban infrastructure." He calls for drastic measures in master-planning and replacing myopic thinking with long-term planning.
Singh also focuses on sustainable green building practices, highlighting that they are the way forward. The government's attempts at encouraging such practices through incentives have shown promise, according to Singh.
The Chairman Emeritus advises young entrepreneurs to focus on compliance with laws, market testing, taxation, and prioritizing ethics and moral values in their business philosophy. Noting his own experiences and past achievements, including building trust with farmers to purchase 1000 acres of land for development, Singh places his legacy among the best.
