Empowering Women: District Administration Organises Large-Scale Health and Placement Camp

Nawanshahr, [Date] - The District Administration organized a large-scale women's health and placement camp at the ITI Ground, Nawanshahr, with an aim to empower women through various health services, employment opportunities, and awareness about government schemes.

Around 450 women attended the event, which featured cultural performances, expert lectures, and motivational talks. One of the highlights was a speech by former State Information Commissioner and Director of Punjab Lit Foundation, Khushwant Singh, who provided a powerful message on women's empowerment.

The event also included a poetry recital by BDPO Nawanshahr, focusing on government initiatives for women. The district administration reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to empowering women through health, education, and employment initiatives.

As part of the event, the Punjab Lit Foundation launched the 'Mothers Against Drugs' awareness programme, which aims to engage mothers in the fight against drug abuse. Khushwant Singh emphasized the critical role of mothers in preventing drug addiction, stating, "Punjab's fight against drugs begins at home, with mothers leading the way."

Various experts also addressed the gathering, including psychologist Gaurav Gill, who spoke about behavioural changes in children, and Pankaj Mahajan, a recovered drug addict, who shared his journey of overcoming addiction. Pankaj credited his mother as his biggest strength.

In her closing remarks, Sanna Kaushal, Director of Punjab Lit Foundation, stressed the importance of empowering mothers. "A mother is the first checkpost between her child and drugs," she said. This was announced as the foundation's fourth awareness programme, aimed at reaching all 23 districts of Punjab this year, engaging mothers in this vital issue.

With this initiative, the district administration aimed to create a strong support system for women, promoting health, education, and employment opportunities. The event was a resounding success, showcasing the district's commitment to empowering women in the region.
