Election Commission Officials Conduct Home Voting for Senior Citizens in Mumbai's Mahim Area

MUMBAI, INDIA - November 2024: In a unique initiative to increase voter turnout among senior citizens and people with disabilities (PwD), officials of the Election Commission (EC) conducted home voting in various parts of Mumbai's Mahim area.

As part of the arrangements made by Collector Sanjay Yadav for the benefit of these sections, polling officers visited the residences of eligible voters aged 85 years and above to facilitate their voting. Some senior citizens were unable to register their demands on the 'Saksham App' for availing the facility; hence, field officials are visiting their homes to register their demand.

In an exclusive report obtained by Indian Express News, our photographers captured images of polling officers at home visits in areas where seniors are registered, including Dinath Terrace. The 181 Mahim Vidhansabha constituency has notable candidates Sada Sarvankar from Shinde's Sena and MNS candidate Amit Thackeray.

"It is imperative to extend an inclusive approach for all concerned sections," said Yadav. "The voters will be able to travel free of cost on various routes within the metropolitan region throughout the day, November 20," he added.
