Eight Dead and Dozens Injured as Russia Unleashes Largest Drone and Missile Attack on Ukraine's Sumy City

A devastating Russian strike on a nine-story building in the city of Sumy, located 24 miles from the Ukrainian border, has left at least eight people dead and dozens wounded, according to an official statement issued by Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs on Sunday. The attack, described as the largest in recent months, is among the most significant recent strikes carried out by Russia.
Among those confirmed dead were two minors, who were among the 40 civilians feared trapped inside the building after the rocket attack. Over 400 people were evacuated from the rubble-ridden structure before first responders could access it to conduct a thorough search for survivors. Despite extensive efforts, numerous reports suggest that many victims have yet to be accounted for.
Rescue teams are currently searching every apartment in the damaged building, racing against time to locate and recover those still missing amidst the devastation caused by the massive drone and missile attack. The incident highlights the escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with ongoing hostilities taking an increasingly heavy toll on civilian populations.
