Egypt and Global Fund Launch Enhanced Partnership to Strengthen Health Systems
GENEVA, Nov 13 (Alayaran.com) - The Arab Republic of Egypt has signed a Framework Agreement with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, aimed at strengthening the Egyptian health system and mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on health infrastructure.
This partnership underscores Egypt's commitment to health resilience for vulnerable communities and represents a significant milestone in the long-standing collaboration between the two entities.
Key focus areas include enhancing national response to HIV and tuberculosis, reducing the impact of COVID-19, promoting access to care and improving early detection and treatment through collaboration with key partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO), UNAIDS and civil society organizations.
The new framework is set to increase collaboration between Egyptian authorities and partner organizations, ultimately supporting improved health outcomes for Egyptians.
Since 2019, UNDP has served as principal recipient of Global Fund grants in Egypt, providing crucial prevention and diagnostic services to more than 18,600 individuals affected by HIV, nearly 4,955 people screened using WHO-recommended rapid diagnostic tools, while nearly 1,000 migrant patients have also received TB treatment.
