ED Raids Premises in Chhattisgarh Amid Charges of Bitcoin Use in Maharashtra Polls
Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid on the premises of an auditing company employee, identified as Gaurav Mehta, in Chhattisgarh's capital city Raipur, amid allegations of using Bitcoin to influence the ongoing Maharashtra Assembly elections.

The BJP had earlier released purported voice notes of NCP leader Supriya Sule and Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole alleging attempts were being made to encash Bitcoins to influence the elections.
The ED's investigation comes amid a 2018 cryptocurrency "fraud" case being probed by Pune Police, where former IPS officer Ravindranath Patil was arrested earlier. Mehta's name has been linked to this case, according to sources.
