A Bangalorean startup, Control Z, has unveiled its latest facility, Rent hub, in the city. In partnership with Indian Express, we had a sneak peek at the futuristic workspace that brings together technology and sustainability. The Rent hub is an 18-month warranty on used smartphones, which is longer than Apple's official warranty period.
The company has been working towards reducing e-waste for four years now, focusing on refurbished devices and making them accessible to more people through its cutting-edge innovations. Yug Bhatia, Founder of Control Z, described it as "a reimagination of what technology and sustainability can achieve together".
Control Z's flagship program is the Rent hub, which has been designed to minimize waste and create a circular economy where resources are preserved and every choice contributes to a smarter future.
In order to do so, The firm invests in cutting-edge machines that aid in identifying physical defects, disassembling, and reassemble phones using human touch points. Control Z also makes use of AI-powered precision tools to restore their refurbished smartphones to almost new status.
With the rapid growth of smartphone penetration in India, more and more people are turning to premium devices but affordability is a big concern for many consumers this resulted in an increase of e-waste from discarded phones, prompting businesses like Control Z to focus on reducing e-waste.
