EC Officials Conduct Home Voting for Senior Citizens in Mumbai's Mahim Area with Special Arrangements for People with Disabilities

Mumbai, [Current Date] - The Election Commission of India (ECI) has made special arrangements to facilitate home voting for senior citizens and people with disabilities in the Mahim area of Mumbai. This initiative was implemented to ensure that all eligible voters can cast their ballots without facing any inconvenience.

The decision was taken by the ECI officials after a request from the Mumbai City Collector and Additional District Election Officer, Sanjay Yadav, who appealed to voters aged 85 and above and those with disabilities (People with Disabilities) to register their demands for home voting through the 'Saksham App'. However, some senior citizens and PwD were unable to register on the app, so ECI officials are visiting their homes to register their demand.

Two senior citizens of Dinath Terrace, Suchita S Wairkar (88 years old) and Suman U Baindukar (88 years old), were spotted casting votes for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha 2024 elections.

The Maharashtra elections are scheduled to be held on November 20, with voting beginning at 7 am and closing at 6 pm. Notable candidates contesting in the Mahim area include Sada Sarvankar from Shinde's Sena, MNS candidate Amit Thackeray, and Sena (UBT)'s Mahesh Sawant.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region comprise districts such as Dharavi, Sion-Koliwada, Wadala, Mahim, Worli, Sewri, Byculla, Malabar Hill, Mumbadevi, and Colaba. The voters can travel for free on 243 routes on 10 ring routes throughout the day on November 20.

The arrangements made by ECI officials are a step towards making voting more accessible to all citizens, particularly those who may face difficulties in traveling to polling stations.
