E-tenders Worth Crores Being Futed by Amdavad Municipal Corporation

Ahmedabad, Dec 26th, 2024 - Just days before New Year, it has been revealed that 13 out of 20 e-tenders issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in 2024 have not been approved, leaving millions of rupees stuck in a limbo.

According to sources within the corporation, the non-approval includes tenders for crucial projects like monitoring system to track water levels underpasses, procurement tablet computers for tax department, and computer processor installations. In fact, even though a tender worth crores was submitted earlier this year, still not approved by AMC - it is shocking that these e-tenders are being turned down despite AMC's claims of digital governance.

The situation has come to light after Advocate Atik Sayed highlighted the issue in a public meeting. While highlighting their complaints with AMC officials say that the corporation talks about modernizing primary services for citizens, but tenders which deal with technology aren't getting approval.

In 2023 too an e-tender worth crores had been submitted earlier this year for the procurement of computers for the tax department was rejected too - and it is also surprising to know that AMC failed in implementing even HC order related to Gujarati language.

Also, other tech related tenders like installation of Autocad software,ICT installations, mapping machine halls installations, e-governance modules installmation for tax dept.etc were not approved either

When contacted spokesperson Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation said, 'We are aware that some tenders weren't approved in AMC as stated above and we will try to resolve them within the soonest time.'

However with so many technical & infra development projects still pending, it is a lot to wonder when these would get solved or approved
