Door-to-Door ECG Service Launched to Combat Rising Heart Attack Cases in Mandya

Mandya, Karnataka - In a significant step towards improving healthcare for rural areas, the Mandya district health authorities have announced the launch of 'Gramagalali Hrucayanda Spandana', a programme aimed at combating rising heart attack cases. Under this initiative, portable finger-based ECG devices will be made available door-to-door in villages across the seven taluks of the district.

The programme's main objective is to provide early diagnosis and timely treatment for heart-related ailments, especially in areas where traditional ECG machines are not present due to space constraints. According to health authorities, one portable ECG machine will be distributed for every 5,000 people in rural communities, ensuring that heart conditions are diagnosed quickly and effectively.

Dr. K. Mohan, Mandya DHO, stressed the importance of early detection: "This programme is designed to detect heart-related issues early on. Although the ECG machines are available at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), they are not present at sub-centres. Once these new machines are introduced at all levels, individuals experiencing heart issues can visit their nearest centre for an ECG. If any abnormalities are detected, staff will consult with a physician or specialist, administer basic medication, and refer the patient to a hospital if necessary."

Dr. Sadanand, Superintendent of Jayadeva Hospital, Mysuru, echoed similar sentiments: "The first hour is the golden hour. Initiatives like this will really help in diagnosing problems at the earliest and saving precious lives."

With the launch of 'Gramagalali Hrucayanda Spandana', citizens in Mandya district can now expect more accessible and timely heart disease diagnosis and treatment, thanks to the innovative use of portable ECG technology.
