DMK's Handling of Health Department Sparks Controversy
Chennai, TN: Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami has launched a scathing attack on the DMK government, criticizing its handling of the health department. The opposition leader claimed that the department, which was known for its achievements and excellence during the AIADMK regime, has become increasingly contentious under the present administration.
Palaniswami accused the DMK members of being masters of deception, who are unfairly blaming the previous regime for their own shortcomings in managing the health department. He also questioned the government's ability to effectively run the department, which is putting the lives of the public at risk.
Several controversies surrounding the handling of healthcare services have come to light since the DMK returned to power. One of the prominent incidents includes the wrong treatment given to a 17-year-old football player, Priya, who succumbed to her injuries due to inadequate medical care at a hospital in Chennai. Similarly, a girl was adminstered a wrong dose of the rabies vaccine in a government hospital in Cuddalore.
Palaniswami urged the people of Tamil Nadu not to tolerate this situation anymore, saying that they are intelligent and will soon chase away the "tyrants" from the seat of power. His statement reflects a growing discontent among opposition parties regarding the DMK's handling of key sectors like healthcare. The government has yet to respond to these allegations.
