Diljit Dosanjh Throws Down Gauntlet against Telangana Government
In a shocking turn of events, Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh took to the stage in Ahmedabad to perform songs that have sparked controversy in the past, in a bold move that has left fans and critics alike polarized. The decision comes just hours after Telangana government issued a sudden notice to Dosanjh, instructing him to refrain from singing songs promoting alcohol, violence, and drugs.
Dosanjh, known for his unapologetic approach to life and music, decided to comply with the notice but not before taking a subtle dig at the government. His remarks, however, were more biting when he was performing in Ahmedabad on November 18. According to sources close to the singer, Dosanjh refused to sing songs promoting alcohol, despite claiming that he received no notice from the authorities.
When questioned about his decision, Dosanjh pointed out that the state of Gujarat is dry and that his devotionals songs had been largely overlooked in comparison to his songs on a more provocative subject. He clarified that he himself does not drink alcohol, and his proposal for a "Dry Nation Movement" has left fans and critics divided.
"I want to propose a Dry Nation Movement where we never make songs on alcohol again. If something like this happens, I promise to continue making music that is not only entertaining but also responsible," Dosanjh said during the concert.
The proposal has gone viral on social media platforms, with many people praising Dosanjh for his bold stance while others have condemned the Telangana government for its heavy-handed actions. The singer's Dil-Luminati Tour will conclude on December 29 in Guwahati and will resume in Lucknow on November 22.
