Diljit Dosanjh Takes Swipe at Government and Media for 'Over-Reacting' Over Concert Lyrics

Punjab-born singer-songwriter Diljit Dosanjh has been engaging in a public spat with the Telangana government over his concerts, which sparked debates about substance abuse and censorship. After the government ordered him to refrain from singing songs promoting drugs and alcohol during his recent Hyderabad concert, Diljit took to the stage to address the criticism.

In Ahmedabad and Houston (India), as well as Lucknow (on Friday) for his latest concert in Lucknow, Dosanjh tweaked his song lyrics to avoid controversy. However, he maintained that changing his music won't solve the issue of substance abuse and dared the government to take on alcohol instead.

During a conversation with his audience at the event, Diljit made headlines again by addressing media reports about him, "Media has been running several reports about me. I want to tell them, there is nothing versus Diljit. I love everyone. I have had amazing experiences performing at several Indian cities."

Dosanjh's statements come at a time when India battles the effects of substance abuse, and music plays a significant role in shaping public opinion. Critics argue that banning certain songs may help deter youth from experimenting with alcohol or drugs.

The singer's comments on media coverage sparked renewed discussion on social media and mainstream news channels, highlighting concerns about artistic freedom and overzealous attempts to police creative expression.
