Destiny’s Child Reunion: LeToya Luckett and RaeLynn Set to Headline Houston Mayor's Holiday Spectacular
Houston, December 5 - The City of Houston's holiday celebration is expected to draw record crowds this year as the Reliant Lights Mayor's Holiday Spectacular returns for its 105th edition. This freet event will be held in Hermann Square at City Hall on Saturday, December 7, from 6-8 p.m., and promises an unforgettable night of music, food, and festive cheer.
LeToya Luckett, a two-time Grammy Award winner and founding member of Destiny's Child, has been announced as the headlining performer. RaeLynn, a two-time nominee for the Academy of Country Music’s new female vocalist award, will share the stage with Luckett in this special holiday concert.
Houston Mayor John Whitmire plans to bring his grandchildren to the event and invites families across the city to join him in celebrating the season. Given recent challenges the city has faced in recent years, Whitmire believes that the mayor's Holiday Spectacular is an especially welcome respite. "Each year is special, but I think this year is particularly special, as we've weathered our storms and come out stronger," he said.
With nearly 15,000 attendees expected to attend, the event will feature a variety of activities, including a gingerbread village, refreshments, sponsors, and vendors. Santa Claus will also make an appearance for photos. The evening's culminates in a spectacular tree lighting ceremony, accompanied by fireworks.
According to the mayor’s office, the 48-foot-tall tree, adorning the city hall lawn, will be illuminated with over 100,000 lights, completing a stunning perimeter oaks lighting display. Susan Christian, director of special events for the mayor's office said this year's celebration " promises to be one of our most spectacular yet!"
