Delhi LG Inaugurates 73rd All India Police Athletic Cluster Championship

New Delhi, November 5 - Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, inaugurated the 73rd All India Police Athletic Cluster Championship at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday, highlighting the role of sports in fostering discipline and success.

Addressing the gathering, Saxena remarked, "Sports teaches discipline, which is fundamental to achieving success in any field." He further quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, "In sports, there are no losers; every participant learns something new."

The championship, which will continue until November 14, saw the participation of senior officials from the Delhi Police, with Commissioner Sanjay Arora welcoming the chief guest. The event was also honored by the presence of former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and renowned hockey player Rani Rampal as Guests of Honour.

Over 1,123 police personnel, including both men and women, from 25 states, four Union Territories, and the Central Armed Police Forces, are set to compete in this prestigious event. Participants will engage in 45 athletic events at the JLN Stadium, with an additional seven cycling events scheduled in Rohini, Delhi.

The ceremony included a salute to the LG by the marching contingents, underscoring the ceremonial start of this significant sports meet. The championship not only promotes athletic prowess but also serves as a platform for fostering camaraderie and competitive spirit among the police forces of India.
