New Delhi, November 5 - Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, inaugurated the 73rd All India Police Athletic Cluster Championship at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday, underscoring the significance of sports in fostering discipline and success.
In his address, Saxena highlighted that sports instill discipline, which he described as crucial for success in life. He referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi's words to the Indian athletes post their success at the Paris Olympics, stating, "Sports are an arena where no one loses; every participant learns something new."
The championship, which will run until November 14, saw a grand opening attended by senior officials from the Delhi Police, with former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and celebrated hockey player Rani Rampal as Guests of Honour.
LG Saxena took the salute from the marching contingents, and Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora extended a warm welcome to the chief guest.
The event will feature 1,123 police personnel from 39 teams, representing 25 states, four Union Territories, and the Central Armed Police Forces. Participants will engage in 45 athletic events at JLN Stadium, alongside seven cycling events set to take place at Rohini, Delhi.
This championship not only showcases athletic prowess but also serves as a platform for learning and personal growth among law enforcement officers from across the nation.
