Delhi Cafe Owner Found Dead: Police Suspect Suicide After Divorce Dispute

A 34-year-old man, Puneet Khurana, co-founder of a famous cafe in Delhi, was found dead at his residence in the Model Town's Kalyan Vihar area on Tuesday evening. The police suspects that he may have taken his own life due to an intense battle over a divorce and business dispute with his wife.

According to officials, Khurana was engaged in a bitter fight over the ownership of their cafe, Woodbox Cafe, which they co-founded. His family revealed that he was "upset" with his wife during this time.

The couple had been getting a divorce since recently, with sources stating that Khurana's family members had expressed concerns about the situation. A disturbing audio recording of the couple's argument over the business property has surfaced in which Khurana's wife is heard accusing him of owing her money and demanding he clear his dues.

The investigation revealed Khurana's phone and his wife was called for questioning, further highlighting the complexities of their relationship. The recent death of a Bengaluru techie, Atul Subhash, who died by suicide in December and left behind a detailed 24-page note accusing his wife and her relatives of harassment, drew similarities with this case.

Subhash wrote that he believed the legal system will encourage his harassers, but since he was gone, there would be no motive for them to harassed his parents and brother. A few days after his death, his wife Nikita Singhania, her mother, and brother were arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the alleged harassment.

The case is now being investigated by the police, with details emerging of a protracted dispute between Khurana and his wife over their business and divorce. The findings are concerning, as it appears that the couple's relationship had reached a critical stage before Khurana took his own life.
