Deepika Padukone Slams L&T Chairman SN Subrahmanyan Over 'Controversial' Remarks on Employees Working On Sundays

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 10: Indian actress and luxury brand endorser Deepika Padukone had a word of displeasure with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Chairman, S N Subrahmanyan, over his previous comment regarding employees working on Sundays. Her comments came after SN Subrahmanyan made these remarks in a viral video which sparked a heated debate online concerning workplace culture and mental health.

In her social media post on Instagram Stories, Padukone described the comments as 'shocking', labeling them 'unacceptable'. Referring to his commentary on employees who choose not to work on Sundays, she added "Mental health matters." The remarks left several people confused and disheartened, with former badminton player Jwala Gutta, who shared a similar view in the comments section.

SN Subrahmanyan had questioned why anyone would 'stare at their partner' and how long that can continue only on Sundays. Although Larsen & Toubro came out to address these remarks claiming there was no further clarification required, actor Deepika Padukone did not seem convinced by the explanations given in a statement.

"Shocking to see people in such senior positions make such statements," she shared, accompanied with the hashtag #MentalHealthMatters.
