DEATH TOLL RISES AS BUS CROSSES CENTRE IN JIGAWA TRAGEDY

Abuja, January 23 - At least 10 people were killed on Tuesday morning when a bus crashed into a stationary truck in Nigeria's northern state of Jigawa. The accident occurred at Yanfari village of the Taura local government area.
According to Lawal Shiisu, spokesman for the police in Jigawa, the ill-fated bus flipped over several times after colliding with the truck, resulting in the deaths of 9 people on the spot. However, one victim was rescued by a police patrol team and received treatment at a nearby hospital.
This latest tragic incident highlights the recurring problem of deadly road accidents in Nigeria, often caused by overloading, poor road conditions, and reckless driving habits of some drivers.
The security situation in Jigawa remains tense as authorities investigate into the cause of the accident.
